Questions people ask

Is it really free?

Yes. Nova PDF is free and open-source under the MIT license. You can use it for personal and commercial work.

Windows shows “Unknown publisher”. Is that safe?

The installer is not code-signed yet, which is why SmartScreen warns. Click “More info” then “Run anyway”. You can verify the file against the checksum published on the GitHub release.

Where is my data stored?

In your Windows user profile, inside “AppData\Roaming\NOVA PDF Studio\data”. Backups are created there automatically and you can export the database from Settings.

How do updates work?

The app checks GitHub Releases in the background, downloads new versions quietly and installs them the next time you close it. No action needed.

macOS or mobile?

Windows 10/11 today. macOS is planned next; a companion mobile app for scanning and quick invoices is being considered.
